James “Jim” Howard Ogden, a longtime resident of Liberty, Missouri, has died at the age of 72. He passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2026, leaving behind his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Born June 21, 1954, to Buell “Corky” and Margaret Ogden, Jim developed a deep love for farming and the outdoors from an early age. Those interests remained important throughout his life and became central to the legacy he built through his work and family.

Jim established and operated Rock Creek Dairy in Bates City, Missouri, dedicating years to farming and caring for the land and animals. Farming was more than simply an occupation for him; it was a way of life that he shared with his wife, Lois, and his family.

Outside of farming, Jim enjoyed hunting, art, and music, particularly bluegrass. During his younger years, he also spent time raising and running his beloved coon dogs. His interests reflected his strong connection to the outdoors and the activities he enjoyed throughout his life.

Family remained at the center of Jim’s world. He is survived by his wife, Lois Ogden, and his children Jamie Turner and her husband John, Shaun Henry and her husband Robin, Jim Ogden and his wife Stephanie, and Aimee Beck and her husband Mike.

He is also survived by his brothers Steve Ogden, John Ogden and his wife Trudy, and Gary Ogden and his wife Vicki, along with sisters-in-law Jackie, Linda, and Sue, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jim was also a proud grandfather to Mariah, Blaine, Johnny, Grayson, Bailey, Hadley, Natalee, Weston, Wyatt, Adelynne, and Emmett. His grandchildren were an important part of his life, adding to the family legacy he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buell “Corky” and Margaret Ogden, and his daughter, Kelly Metoyer.
