Dr. Daniel Nabil Frangie, a respected emergency physician, devoted husband, father, and man of faith, died on September 16, 2026, following a courageous battle with stage IV esophageal cancer. He was 41 years old.

Daniel was born on April 1, 1985, in Lansing, Michigan, and spent much of his life building a legacy around medicine, faith, service, and family. To the people who knew him, his professional accomplishments were only one part of a life defined by compassion and an enduring commitment to others.

Daniel was a proud eight-year Spartan who attended Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology before completing his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.

He later completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Henry Ford Health System and continued his career at Henry Ford West Bloomfield. For 11 years, he served as an emergency physician, caring for patients during some of the most difficult and uncertain moments of their lives.

His colleagues, patients, friends, and members of the wider community remembered him for the compassion and kindness he brought to his work. Emergency medicine gave Daniel the opportunity to help countless people, and his dedication to that calling became an important part of the legacy he leaves behind.

For approximately two years, Daniel faced stage IV esophageal cancer with courage. During that period, his Catholic faith became an increasingly important part of his life.

His illness inspired him to encourage others to pray and to strengthen their relationship with God. Among the personal expressions of that faith were handmade decade rosaries that Daniel created for friends and family.

The rosaries became more than gifts. They represented his desire to provide comfort, share his faith, and remind the people around him of the importance of prayer during difficult times.

His Family Was at the Center of His Life

For Daniel, however, his greatest source of love and purpose was his family.

He was the loving husband and best friend of Fadia, with whom he shared 15 years of marriage. Together, they raised their three children, Liliana “Lily,” Lucas, and Layal Frangie.

Daniel treasured being their father and was especially proud to be known by them as “Baba.” His family described him as their strength, protector, home, and greatest love—words that speak to the central place he held in their lives.

He is also survived by his parents, Nabil and Diane Frangie; his sister, Carolyn (Eric) Golota; niece and nephew Ryan and Adrienne Golota; extended family, in-laws, relatives, and many beloved friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nehme and Melanie Frangie and Richard and Lucy Tideswell.

Vigil, Funeral Mass and Committal Services

Family, friends, colleagues, and members of the community will have several opportunities to gather in Daniel’s memory.

A public vigil will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Clinton Township. A rosary will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 21, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church. A committal service will follow from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery.

Condolences will be accepted from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Wabeek Country Club.
