Dr. Idris Evans, a pediatric critical care physician at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, has died after being stabbed during an overnight incident in Edgewood, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, September 24, 2026. According to Allegheny County police and local reports, officers were called to a home along Linden Avenue shortly after 12:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. He was board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine.

His professional work focused on pediatric critical care, including caring for critically ill children and advancing research in areas such as pediatric sepsis and critical care transport.
